The Iona School in Nottingham caters for children aged from three and a half to eleven, while our Nursery is available for younger children. The school offers Steiner Waldorf education based upon the principles given by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925).

The school was founded in 1985 by a group of teachers and parents who established The Iona School Association with the intention that this education should be available to all children regardless of race, religion or economic background.

At Iona, we aim to give the children:

  1.   Self confidence

  2.   A love of learning

  3.   An ability to work with others

  4.   Enduring and practical skills

  5.   Spiritual freedom

  6.   An open and tolerant attitude

The Education at Iona School:

  1. Fosters Healthy Development in every child

  2. Enables children to reach their full potential

  3. Helps children to develop the skills they need to contribute to society

We believe that education should be a continuing process, and our task is to stimulate and develop the faculties and skills which enable our pupils to learn for life, from life, throughout life.

The school is made up of three distinct areas:

The Nursery

The Kindergarten

The Main School

The Iona School is part of a growing educational movement founded in 1919 with 958 schools worldwide. It is situated in Sneinton, only one and a half miles from Nottingham city centre
