Dear parents,Trustees and friends of Iona

We quickly sent the Iona ‘solar roof’ share offer out earlier this week, but some extra explanation might answer questions already coming in.  Here is the share offer CLICK HERE: GW Schools Energy Co-op online version

1. Iona is part of the Schools Energy Coop (SEC), which will do all the administration of the schemes. The £400,000 share offer is not what Iona’s roof will cost! Our part will be just over £60,000.

2. It is likely that the (national) share offer will be over-subscribed. Iona parents, and supporters locally, will be given preference, BUT ONLY ON APPLICATIONS SENT IN BY 20th MARCH. The share offer closes on 5th April, to take advantage of current tax allowances. Anyone interested must apply quickly.

3. Do feel free to pass this on to your friends and contacts in the local area. It might widen the base of support for the school and could also have tax advantages that others (including businesses) might find attractive.

4. If our part of the share offer is over-subscribed, we have agreed with SEC that shares will be spread as widely as possible, to reflect the desire to make this a whole school initiative.

5. Only once the share offer closes will we move to the next phase of getting the installation underway, but with the minimum disruption to school life.

This is an incredibly exciting development for the Iona school, completely in keeping with our philosophy about how we live on this planet. We hope you will support it … in whatever ways you can.
