You are invited to our…

SAINT MARTIN’S DAY LANTERN FESTIVAL

MONDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2019 AT 5PM

Before the festival come along to the Winter Café at 3.30pm in the Hall hosted by Class 4/5.

Bring your pennies for homemade hot soup, rolls, cakes, samosas and warm drinks.

All proceeds to Class 4/5’s residential trip next year.

Martin joined the Roman Army at his father’s behest and, though a reluctant soldier, rose to the rank of Tribune within three years. He is remembered as the one who cut his cloak in half in order to clothe a cold and hungry beggar. After this act of charity he dreamt that he saw Christ wearing the half – cloak.

Martin left the army and went to Poitiers to become the disciple of Bishop Hilary. Although Martin would have preferred a quiet and humble life, the people of Tours wanted him to be their Bishop and had to trick him to get him into the cathedral to be consecrated. One story tells that he hid in a goose shed and the people came with their lanterns to find him.

When we are all gathered in the story circle, Class 2/3 will perform a German play about St Martin. This means that the performance space will need to be clear. We will be providing extra seating at the front for the children. Please follow the directions you are given on the night so that we can enjoy the event without long delays.

IF YOU USE THE TOP CAR PARKS PLEASE TAKE GREAT CARE IF TRYING TO DRIVE AWAY WHILE CHILDREN ARE STILL COMING DOWN FROM THE LAND

IN THE EVENT OF BAD WEATHER THE FESTIVAL WILL BE HELD IN THE HALL.

We look forward to seeing you there.

CLASS 5/6 FUNDRAISING CAKE SALE

We raised £168 for Women’s Aid Integrated Services at our Michaelmas Festival last Monday.

Children in Class 5/6 baked cakes which they served with drinks before the festival.

I am delighted that the children could be a part of the

‘Bake A Difference’ fundraising program for W.A.I.S.

The Advent Festival will be held today, Monday 4th December at 17.00. Everyone is warmly invited to share in this time of peace and tranquility which marks the beginning of, what often becomes, a very busy period in our calendar. It is also when we begin to look forward to the coming of the Christmas Light. In the dark stillness of the evening, children light a candle to the sound of gentle singing and music and place it in a spiral. Parents often comment on what a moving festival this is.
