The post is 16 hours per week and temporary. Days/times to be agreed. Some flexibility around school holidays is a possibility.

The successful applicant will manage the financial aspects of the school.  S/he will be responsible for accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and debt collection.  S/he will maintain existing processes for the above.  Necessary personal qualities include a strong facility with numbers, competence with accounting systems, initiative to improve processes, and an ability to handle confidential information.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitoring all visitors to the school/nursery

  • Answering and directing incoming calls in a professional and friendly manner
  • Taking messages and directing them to the appropriate person

The Iona School in Nottingham is looking for a School Business Manager. We are a small friendly primary school with a vibrant community, committed to providing the best care and education based on the principles given by Rudolph Steiner.

The Business Manager will work alongside the Chair of College and Educational Lead. 

You will be responsible for the day to day managing of the business side of the school. This will involve line management of our non-teaching team, premises management, fire and health and safety management.

You will ideally hold a SBM qualification or be able to show relevant experience, you should be used to producing risk managements on all aspects of premises and people safety with a meticulous eye for detail as you will be processing DBS and safer recruitment.

You will manage the school’s finances using sage 50 accounts, invoicing, reconciliation and cash handling and purchase ledger. You will set budgets and produce monthly profit and loss reports.

 You will be fully proficient with sage payroll as on occasion you will run the monthly payroll from start to finish and ensure you submit pension details on the NEST portal and ensure the HMRC payments are done in a timely fashion.

You must be an excellent communicator as you will need to discuss aspects of finances with the school parents, answering queries and managing debts, following these through to a reasoned conclusion.

You must have experience in using sage packages and excel.

You must be an excellent communicator, used to working to tight deadlines with a can do attitude.

You will be working directly with parents and children supporting them in their journey and will be representing the school and its ingrained ethos.
