![]() The Iona School is situated in Sneinton, only one and a half miles from Nottingham city centre and caters for children from three and a half to eleven years. We offer Steiner/Waldorf education based upon the principles given by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). The school was founded in 1985 by a group of teachers and parents who established The Iona School Association with the intention that this education should be available to all children regardless of race, religion or economic background. The Iona School is part of a growing educational movement founded in 1919 with more than 700 schools worldwide. In particular, the inspector considered that "the pupils' speaking and listening skills are oustanding." It was noted that "throughout the school, the strong philosophical emphasis on balancing academic learning and developing skills in the arts and practical activities is put into practice successfully. This is a strength of the school." In addition, the inspector considered that "The school makes outstanding provision for pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and it is at the heart of the school's purpose." It was also noted that "the emphasis on quiet reflection, tolerance of self and others, and creative development means that there is a great celebration of diversity and different ways of doing things."Charity No is 516999 and our Company Number is 1911659. | |
